1. The Moonrise at Rangat

One of the most excruciatingly intoxicating sights to be found in Rangat is the spectacle of the moon rising following the sunset at the horizon. It is a sight to behold and it is so beautiful that it pains to not be able to capture it in your camera, as it is impossible to do it without an expensive and high resolution DSLR.

The moon appears quite a few minutes after the sky is shimmering with stars and looks like a bright orange round spot coming out of the lap of the ocean where it meets the sky. The difference between a sunrise and moon rise is clearly indicated by the brightening of the area covered only by the moon while the sky remains dark.

2. The Dhani Nallah Mangrove Nature Walkway

In the Andaman Islands, nature has its own way of making its presence significant and meaningful for humans. One such unforgettable place that just ravishes you with its natural beauty is the Dhani Nallah Mangrove Nature Walkway. Developed by the talented and visionary DFO of Rangat, Mr. V. Kannan, the place has found its true potential to be transformed into a major tourist attraction of Andaman.

It has a wooden walkway surrounded by mangrove trees that leads you to the Dhani Nallah beach, where you can see the sunrise and even a moonrise and if you are really lucky, you can also see Turtles nesting in the sandy beaches. This walkways is one of the longest walkways in India at present which enables visitors to feel and enjoy the mangrove trees very closely.

3. Aamkunj Beach at Rangat

The Amkunj beach is the most popular beach of the Rangat region and has been transformed in to an eco-park by the DFO of Rangat. The beach has become a major tourist attraction and the main recreation area for the local people as well. The most unique and amazing thing about this beach is that each and everything is carved out of wood of trees that have either been uprooted naturally or with logs lying around the beach and not a single tree was chopped to transform this place.

This helped transform the beach in to a cleaner and a greener beach which can capitalize through tourists and visitors. The park has Eco huts, Groves with unique natural structures, Log sofas made of a single Khari Badam trees uprooted during the 2004 tsunami. The park also has Log teapoys and stools, trunk benches, dustbins, all carved out of wood and logs.

Many tourists may not even have heard of Rangat, but it can undoubtedly established as a potential major tourist attraction. Located about 210 kilometers from Port Blair and 70 kilometers south of Mayabunder, the region is easily accessible via roads and the sea with several places to lodge in and eat out at.
