1. The Fisheries Museum of Shadipur, was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Andaman and Nicobar Islands, named Shri Ishwari Prasad Gupta on the 5th of October 1997, who used to be a very respectable citizen of the capital city. He encouraged the acquisition of knowledge about the Andaman and the marine life within it.

The museum is located in a very strategic position where tourists can spend the entire day as it is not only close to the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, but is also surrounded by the Marina Park-an excellent picnic spot and the Children’s Traffic Park-another great  picnic spot for kids and families.

3. The Museum has more than 350 species of marine life preserved within it, of which almost all are exclusive to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and are rarely found anywhere else in the world, leave alone the Indian sub-continent.

4. This unique Fisheries Museum, has a huge variety of sea shells that range from small to large to massive sized shells, apart from being rare along with display of colorful fish and corals stored behind huge glass walls.

5. The museum is for 6 days a week with an off on Monday and can be visited at any time of the year between 9.00 am to 4.45 pm.
