Sightseeing in Port Blair
Needless to say, a visit to Port Blair cannot be completed without visiting all the popular sightseeing spots in the city. Surrounded by immense beauty and greenery, Port Blair has many great tourist places that cannot be absolutely missed. One of the most famous sights in the city is the Cellular Jail National Memorial. A former British jail that used to house political prisoners during the British Regime. The prisoners over here were subjected to outright cruelty with brutal work hours and whipping. However, now the prison has been converted into a completely immaculate national memorial for freedom fighters with a beautiful garden in the front. Visiting hours are between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm; open all days except Monday. Another popular sight is the Chatham Saw Mill. Built during the British period in 1836, this mill was once the largest wood processor in the entire continent. Even though the mill is still operating today, it serves as a very important piece of our country’s history. Other famous sightseeing spots that one must visit in Port Blair include Corbyn’s Cove, Anthropological Museum, Aquarium, Mini Zoo, Japanese Bunkers and Central Agricultural Research Institute.

Water Activities in Port Blair
Located next to the sea, Port Blair is very famous for its incredible water activities suitable for all ages. If you are not a fan of the water or do not know swimming, don’t fret, there are some fun activities that do not require swimming at all.

Snorkeling: Snorkeling at Jolly Buoy is one of the most famous water activities near Port Blair. Jolly Buoy is a small island, located about a few kilometers away from the city. Because of great transparency of the water and an abundant marine life, snorkeling is very famous in Jolly Buoy. It costs around Rs. 500 for 15 minutes and Rs. 1000 for 25 minutes. For visitors, who do not like snorkeling, an alternate option to enjoy the sea is Glass Bottom Boat Rides. They are boats with glass at the center of the boat, which allows visitors to view the sea life from above the sea level. Since the island is only open till 2 pm, it is best to arrive early in the morning so that you have more time to enjoy. To reach Jolly Buoy, catch a bus from Aberdeen Bazaar in Port Blair to Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park in Wandoor, and from there, catch a ferry to Jolly Buoy Island. The entire journey should not take more than 60 to 90 minutes.

Sea Walking: The best Sea Walking adventures are offered at North Bay Island, also known as Coral Island. Sea Walking is best for those people who love to explore the seas and the sea life in depth. With an oxygen tank attached to you, one can easily roam underwater and also feed the fish. At some extra charge, underwater photography is also provided.

Fishing and other activities: Game Fishing, Cruise Fishing, Cruise Party, Diving and more activities are also very popular in Port Blair and are a must-do while visiting the city.
